Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services is looking for a part-time (two days/week), potential for full-time, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. The office of Health Services at Sheltering Arms provides comprehensive medical care for the organization's Foster Care program, Adolescent Residential Care program and for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system. The position would entail providing routine pediatric care to children in foster care of all ages and our adolescent population.

The office of Health Services at Sheltering Arms provides comprehensive medical care for the organization's Foster Care program, Adolescent Residential Care program and for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system. The position would entail providing routine pediatric care to children in foster care of all ages and our adolescent population.

Responsibilities:

* Provide comprehensive medical care in the Sheltering Arms Office of Health Services two days a week.
* Interview the Foster Family, Biological Family or designated caseworkers as needed. Relay any special information to the Director of Health Services/ Director of Foster Care/Director Group Home about the physical or emotional health of the children and adolescents, which may come to his/her attention.
* Request referral of patients to another Medical Center/ Hospital for further diagnosis or treatment at their discretion.
* Participate in multi-disciplinary communication with clinic staff and other departments to ensure the well-being of our patients and other related task that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

* A licensed Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
* Experience in Foster Care a plus.
* Knowledge of physical and sexual abuse signs and symptoms.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to exercise good judgment in emergency situations, to take initiative appropriately and to function independently when required.
