Senior Onsite Audio-Visual Maintenance Technician

The Onsite Audio-Visual Maintenance Technician manages, maintains and is responsible for all service and repairs of client's audio video equipment and fully integrated conference rooms include auditoriums and board rooms. Onsite AVMT interfaces directly with the client on a daily basis and their responsibilities include maintaining daily functionality of all AV and integrated conference rooms. The position will collaborate with our client's management team and other company employees; this is a key role in maintaining a good partner relationship and being sensitive to our client's needs and schedules. This position reports to the Strategic Onsite Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Preventive maintenance visits to ensure equipment and room functionality is ready for use.

* Responsible for identifying defective or failed equipment and take ownership to resolution, work with client support departments and company account representatives to provide clients with resolution options.

* Communicate with, understand and intelligently interface with various internal operating groups that include but are not limited to the Post Production, Broadcast Engineering and Operations, as well as various other technical and operating groups both internal and external.

* Identify and isolate network or signal flow problems, as well as install and configure complex post production video and audio processing systems

* Perform software and firmware version upgrades and configuration changes to operating systems and platform

* Ensure that all systems are fully functional, and that equipment and system downtime are kept to a minimum and ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client or service department.

* Accurately and quickly diagnose, log and remedy faults and problems. Troubleshoot electronic systems and equipment and provide repairs.

* Interface with manufacturers, developers, engineers, and project managers to provide resolutions for highly complex systems

* Perform remote troubleshooting for local and regional offices

* Ensure a prompt, courteous and appropriate response to all customer requests for assistance and support, working to defined service level agreements and within contractual timeframes/frameworks.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Technical Skills

* Experience in providing routine maintenance and problem diagnosis for projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, LCD/Plasma Displays.

* Benchmarking new and existing systems to ensure they meet stringent quality standards.

* Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting network-based mass storage solutions, edit hardware and software.

* Experience in maintaining and optimization of cameras in production facilities, main control rooms and auditoria.

* Ability to read and utilize blue prints and audio/video flow diagrams

* Network troubleshooting to diagnose static and dynamic IPs

* Ability to use test equipment to troubleshoot AV, Videoconferencing and Broadcast systems

* Gather and analyze system logs and system settings for Cisco codecs, Crestron control systems, mixers, and broadcast equipment as needed

* Utilize audio mixer software to calibrate and eliminate echo and feedback.

* Have a working knowledge of video conferencing units and codecs.

* Have a working knowledge of AV control systems. AMX, Crestron, Cisco

* Have a working knowledge of audio DSP based technologies, gain structure and the requirements of sound reinforcement within the presentation environment.

* Testing, problem diagnosis, maintenance and basic repairs for projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, LCD/Plasma Displays.

* Proven experience in the testing, fault finding, servicing, maintenance, engineering and installation of electronic audio-visual systems, or a related field.

* Knowledge of touch screen and web-based programming and control technology.

* Adhere to and understand OSHA standards for all phases of the job.

* Proficient in the safe use of hand and power tools

* Proficient with solder, compression & crimp type connectors Ability to think & work independently and meet necessary deadlines.

* Ability to prioritize and work under pressure is essential.

* Document and distribute new or modified procedures as needed.

* Document work via professional writing, spreadsheets, and ticket software

* Have the ethics of delivery of a quality solution where second best is not good enough. Must be able to navigate through various command line interfaces.

Desired Skills

* Previous experience managing a corporate environment using Active Directory

* Experience with audio and video editing and/or transmission systems

* Knowledge of Evertz Routers, automation systems, character generators and playout servers would be a significant plus but not required day one.

* Knowledge of Evertz or similar router configuration and operation would be a significant plus but not required

* Earn trust with client management by providing consistent results in highly demanding situations with unpredictable variable.

* Ability to read and understand Visio or AutoCAD drawings and system schematics.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

* High School diploma required

* College degree in a related technical field a plus

* Minimum 5 years related experience

* Minimum two years break/fix and/or system integration experience

* CTS, DMC-E and continuing AV training preferred

* Experience in providing technical support and/or maintaining a broadcast/editing environment a plus.

* Strong desire to learn and be trained.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, crawls under tables, etc. This position can have physical demands.

WORK WEEK & HOURS:

40 hours - Mon Fri. Shift hours may be subject to change based on business requirements in support of a Broadcast and Audio-Visual facilities. Must be flexible to work additional hours and on weekends as required on an overtime basis.

ENVIRONMENT: Works at a customer site daily, requires travel to other customer locations in the metro area.
